Giving landfill the boot
Every year, over 100 million pairs of shoes are brought into Australia. Most of these shoes later end up in landfill. At TWW Global Group, we’re doing our part to reduce landfill by helping to recycle old, worn out work boots through our Boot Recycling Program.
The Boot Recycling Program, launched in 2012, was the first of its kind in Australia. Started in conjunction with recycling company ‘Save Our Soles’, and freight partner Toll, it has successfully recycled thousands of worn-out boots, preventing more than 10 tonnes of footwear from ending up in landfills. Trade workers, who often change their boots every 6 months for safety reasons, can now easily reduce their carbon footprint through this recycling initiative.
Through the recycling of footwear, Save Our Soles has helped create a vast range of reusable products, including children’s playground matting. You’ll find recycling bins available at a number of participating TWW stores nationwide.
